Skill assessment
Choose the position you usually play or the one you want to improve! Your position affects the shot prompts you receive during gameplay, helping you practice shots that fit your role on the court.
You can change your position later if you want to try something new, but keep in mind that changing it will reset your current season. For now, choose the position that best matches your game or the skills you want to develop. In a future update, you’ll be able to select multiple positions, giving you even more ways to train and improve!
Yes, you can change your team, but again, this will restart your season. Choose the team you want to go through a full season with. A full season is 29 games and then the playoffs.
Based on your age range, we’ll recommend a starting skill level for you. If you feel the suggested level is too challenging, you can choose a lower level. However, you cannot move up to a harder level than the one suggested for your age range.
After choosing your preferred skill level, you’ll complete a skill assessment. To qualify for your selected level, you must win 3 consecutive games at the level below the tier you select during the assessment.
If you choose to start on All-Star, you will need to win three consecutive games at the Starter (3rd level) level to qualify for All-Star. If you lose any of the three games, you will then need to win three consecutive games at the 6th Man level to begin your season on the Starter level.
This helps ensure you’re competing at a level that’s both challenging and enjoyable!
In-app features
We’re working on bringing workouts to the app, including personalized workouts tailored to your performance and analytics to help you improve your game.
While we don’t have a confirmed release date just yet, we’re excited about what’s coming! We’ll share updates as soon as we have more information.
In the meantime, keep playing, tracking your performance, and building your skills. Your progress will help you get even more out of personalized training when it arrives!
No worries! We’re here to help you get the most out of every shot.
If you’re unsure what a shot should look like or where to take it from on the court, simply tap the EXAMPLE icon for more guidance.
- Shot example video: Watch a video demonstrating how the shot should be taken.
- Court layout: View the court map with the highlighted area showing exactly where you should take the shot.
Absolutely! You can challenge your friends or team up with them using our two multiplayer modes:
- Versus Mode: Compete head-to-head against your friends on opposing teams and see who comes out on top!
- Multiplayer Mode (coming soon): Team up with your friends and work together to beat your opponents.
- Live Mode (coming soon): Live mode allows you to compete against other players in other locations worldwide.
Currently, all players must play on the same device to enjoy these modes together. But we’re working on expanding your options! Stay tuned for future updates that will bring cross-device and cross-region gameplay, so you can compete and team up with friends from even more places.
No! Practice Mode and OT Mode are designed to help you practice, experiment, and improve your skills without affecting your regular stats and analytics.
Feel free to use these modes to work on your game, try new shots, and build your confidence without worrying about impacting your tracked performance.
Gameplay setup
Auto mode is where the phone or iPad camera automatically detects your made or missed shots. Manual mode means you have to manually input your made and missed shots by going back to the phone after every shot to select the make or miss buttons.
Even with a strong connection, shot detection can be affected by your camera setup and playing environment. If your connection is showing 10/10 but shots still aren’t being detected accurately, try checking the following:
- Camera placement: Make sure your camera is positioned correctly and has a clear view of the hoop and playing area.
- Rim detection: Check that the app has successfully detected your rim.
- Lighting: Ensure the court is well-lit so the camera can clearly see the ball and hoop.
- Ball color: Make sure your ball is easy for the camera to distinguish from its surroundings.
Still having trouble? If the issue persists, use the in-app Booth to correct any incorrectly detected shots, or switch to Manual Mode to track your gameplay manually.
We apologize for any missed detections and are working daily to improve this. Soon, the make and miss detection won’t depend on your cell signal or wifi, but rather it will work when you have no signal at all.
You do not need a tripod, although we recommend one for the best user experience.
We don’t currently sell tripods, but you’re welcome to purchase any tripod that fits your needs!
For the best gameplay experience, we recommend choosing a tripod that:
- Keeps your phone stable throughout your session.
- Elevates your phone a few feet off the ground to provide a better view of the court and hoop.
- Holds your phone securely to prevent movement during gameplay.
If your camera isn’t detecting the rim, don’t worry! A few adjustments to your camera setup and playing environment may help.
Try checking the following:
- Camera placement: Make sure your phone is positioned correctly and has a clear view of the hoop.
- Rim visibility: Ensure the entire rim is visible within your camera’s view and isn’t blocked by any objects.
- Lighting: Make sure the area is well-lit so your camera can clearly see the rim.
- Connection: Check that your connection is stable before starting gameplay.
If the issue persists, you will need to play on manual mode for the time being.
Gameplay (standard)
During gameplay, you’ll receive random shot prompts tailored to your skill level, playing position, and dominant hand. Each prompt is designed to challenge you at the right level and simulate real game situations, where you rarely get the same shot every time.
Here’s how to make the most of each prompt:
- Listen carefully: Pay attention to the shot prompt so you understand exactly what shot you need to take.
- Need help? As you’re playing, you can tap the EXAMPLE icon (next to The Booth) to watch a video example of the shot and view the highlighted area on the court where you should take it.
- Take your shot: Head to the correct spot and get ready to shoot!
- Beat the clock: Make sure you take your shot before the shot clock runs out.
Stats & analytics
After each game, you’ll get a breakdown of your performance to help you understand your strengths and identify areas for improvement!
Your post-game stats include key performance metrics such as:
- Field Goal Percentage (FG%): See how accurately you shot throughout the game.
- Free Throws (FTs): Review your free-throw performance.
- Layups: Track how well you performed on layup attempts.
- Shot Regions: See how you performed from different areas of the court.
Want to dig deeper? You can filter your shots by specific shot types to get a closer look at your performance and see where you’re excelling or where you can improve.
Best of all, your post-game stats contribute to your overall career and season stats, so every game counts toward tracking your progress over time!
The analytics go deeper than just the typical stats. Our analytics can tell you exactly which types of shots you are good and bad at so we can then cater workouts to your weakness. Instead of just knowing your three point percentage, we can tell you your three point percentage when you are coming off ball-screens and dribbling with your left hand.
Analytics will be added within the next few months.
The shot chart is a visual breakdown of the court divided into different shooting regions. During gameplay, it helps you identify exactly where you need to take each shot from.
In your Analytics section, you can filter your performance by these regions to see where you shoot best and which areas need more practice. Use these insights to understand your strengths, identify opportunities for improvement, and focus your training where it matters most.
Your progression is all about reaching milestones and proving your skills on the court! Your ranking depends on the achievements you complete, which you can find in the Achievements tab. Every achievement you unlock helps you level up and track your progress.
Want to show off your accomplishments? Share your achievements with friends or post them on social media to celebrate your progress and let everyone know how you’re doing!
Ready for the next challenge? Once you’ve completed all the achievements at your current skill level and won a championship, you’ll be eligible to advance to the next skill level. Keep working toward your goals, collect those achievements, and prove you’re ready for the next level!
Your overall rating is the highest rating you’ve achieved, while your season rating corresponds to your current season. If you reach a rating of 75 on the All-Star level, but do not win the championship, then your next season will begin at a 58 rating, which is the starting point for the All-Star level.
The leaderboard ranks players based on their Player Rating, both Overall and Season. Player ratings are determined by the achievements you complete. You can check out your friends’ rankings and see how you stack up against them throughout the season.
Want to climb the leaderboard? Check your Achievements tab to see which milestones you need to reach to level up and improve your standing. Keep earning achievements, building your rating, and competing to rise through the ranks!
Playoffs
The top 16 teams advance to the playoffs and compete in a bracket-style tournament to determine the champion! Each matchup is a best-of-seven series, so you’ll face the same opponent for up to seven games. Win the series to advance to the next round and keep your championship dreams alive. Every game counts, so bring your best and fight your way to the top!
Your season officially ends when your playoff run comes to an end! If you win the championship, you’ll have the opportunity to advance to the next skill level and take on a new challenge. If you don’t win it all, no worries, you can reset your season and start another run at the title.
When you start a new season, your season ranking resets, giving you a fresh chance to climb the leaderboard. Your overall ranking stays the same, so all your progress still counts.
